BANKING - Bank Mandiri Syariah seeks 30% credit growth in 2011

JAKARTA: Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) targets the credit to grow by 30% in 2011 concerning positive outlook on Indonesian economy.

Director of BSM Zainal Fanani confirmed the target was made considering this year’s achievement which has already exceeded the target of the bank’s business plan (RBB). Until December 22, teh bank's credit disbursement has reached 112% of the target.

“Besides, the target was formed by looking to the optimism in 2011 economic outlook,” said Zainal, today.

Until November 2010, the sharia lender has disbursed IDR22.79 trillion. About 68.97% or IDR15.72 trillion was distributed to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Meanwhile, the rest was allocated for corporate credit.

Zainal said BSM will continue to maintain percentage of credit disbursement to SMEs by 70% of the total credit. This proves BSM's focus on helping the national economy through credit of SMEs.

The limits of micro credit in BSM reach IDR100 million, IDR1.5 billion for small credit and less than IDR15 billion for medium credit. For credits above the limit, they are classified as corporate credit.

President Director of BSM Yuslam Fauzi said the increase in SME credits is resulted from hard work and by adding human resources and branch offices.(T03/NOM)
