INDONESIA - BANKING - Asia Islamic Banking Assets Grow 15 Percent per Year

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- Aset perbankan syariah Asia telah menunjukkan geliatnya sejak tahun lalu. Diperkirakan pertumbuhan aset perbankan syariah mencapai 15 persen setiap tahun selama 10 tahun ke depan.
Hal ini disimpulkan oleh badan standar pengaturan global yang mencatat pertumbuhan pesat perbankan syariah di Asia.

Berdasarkan data dari bank sentral, kepemilikan aset di Malaysia meningkat 27 persen sepanjang satu tahun terakhir. Hingga April 2012 nilai aset di Malaysia mencapai 344 miliar ringgit. Pejabat resmi menyatakan di Indonesia pertumbuhan aset mencapai Rp 144 triliun (15,2 miliar dolar), atau meningkat 43 persen.

Sekretaris Jenderal Kuala Lumpur-based Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), Jaseem Ahmed, mengatakan peningkatan kebutuhan konsumer menjadi motor penggerak peningkatan aset ini.

CEO HSBC Amanah Malaysia, Rafe Haneef, mengungkapkan pemerintah mengembangkan program di pusat ekonomi syariah Asia dan Timur Tengah berupa membawa lebih banyak dana untuk pemberi pinjaman.

Berdasarkan hasil riset dari Ernst & Young LLP industri ini masih bisa berkembang lebih pesat lagi dengan pencapaian aset 1,1 triliun dolar di akhir 2012. Jumlah ini meningkat luar biasa dibandingkan 2010 yang hanya 826 miliar dolar. "Perbankan syariah telah tumbuh 15-25 persen," ujar Haneef, seperti dilansir laman Islam Online, Rabu (18/7). Hal ini juga seiring dengan makin banyaknya negara yang beralih ke perbankan syariah seperti Mesir.

Data otoritas moneter mencatat perbankan syariah Indonesia memberikan kontribusi 3,8 persen dari total pertumbuhan di April. Sementara Malaysia berkontribusi 24 persen. The Deloitte Middle East Islamic Finance Centre di Manama, Bahrain, bulan lalu mengeluarkan laporan aset perbankan syariah di Arab Saudi mencapai 94 miliar dolar. Firma Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill mengklaim nilai ini bisa tumbuh lebih besar lagi setelah lebih banyak negara mengadopsi perbankan syariah dan menerbitkan sukuk.

Oman dan Hong Kong kini tengah dalam proses perumusan aturan perbankan syariah. Sementara Turki, Afrika Selatan, dan Afghanistan, tengah mempersiapkan penerbitan sukuk. Mesir kini sedang mencari jalan untuk memperkenalkan industri syariah di negara tersebut.

Isu sukuk telah mengalami peningkatan luar biasa pada 2012, yaitu 20,8 miliar dolar. Sedangkan pada periode yang sama tahun lalu, sukuk yang diterbitkan hanya 14 miliar dolar, yang didominasi oleh Timur Tengah.

Pada 2007 lalu IFSB memprediksi aset perbankan syariah akan mencapai 2,8 triliun dolar pada 2015. Prediksi ini diakui Jaseem belum akan diubah. "Industri ini sangat kuat dan tengah tumbuh," ujarnya.
