CAPITAL MARKETS - Krakatau shares noted as sharia securities

JAKARTA: Capital Market Supervisory Agency and Financial Institution (Bapepam-LK) has determined the shares of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk as sharia securities.

Official statement from the exchange authority today mentioned that the stipulation is stated in the Decree of Head of Bapepam No. Kep-484/BL/2010 issued on Friday, 29 October, concerning the Determination of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk's shares as sharia securities.

“The decree is issued as a follow-up to the review result conducted by Bapepam-LK towards the fulfillment of sharia securities criteria upon the registration statement that is submitted by Krakatau Steel,” said Head of Bapepam A. Fuad Rahmany.

Data source used as the review objects were from the registration statement document and other supporting data, such as written data obtained from the listed company and other reliable sources.

Krakatau Steel's initial public offering (IPO) will be held starting from today until 4 November 2010. Minister of SOEs Mustafa Abubakar said that the IPO gives the opportunity for the future investors who are interested in Krakatau Steels'a shares priced at IDR850 per share.

Mustafa did not provide any details to the question of who the major buyer of Krakatau Steel shares is. He only explained about its total sales worth IDR2.6 trillion.

Mustafa said that he still does not know the details about the investors who will book for Krakatau Steel shares. “The players are still unknown, yet there are surely tens of thousands,” he said. (T06/NOM)
