BANKING - BRI Syariah targeting Rp 9t in financing

Islamic bank BRI Syariah plans to increase its financing target to Rp 9 trillion (US$1 billion) this year, up from Rp 5.5 trillion last year.

BRI Syariah business director Ari Purwandono said the retail sector would be the focus of the financing program, followed by government infrastructure. (full story)

“Retail sector financing will account for 75 percent of our total financing plan," he said.

"We want to be the biggest syariah bank in the retail sector in Indonesia.”

In the retail sector, BRI will concentrate on housing financing and hajj reserve fund, Ari said.
