Theindonesiatoday.com - PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BBNI) intends to propose a strategic cooperation with Hanwha Group, a business conglomerate from South Korea, Investor Daily reported this morning.
The cooperation will focus on some lines of business, including the prospect to become a strategic partner for BNI. (source)
Gatot M Suwondo, BNI's president director, said the cooperation has been discussed on the sideline of World Economic Forum held in Jakarta on Monday (June 13).
Hanwha, listed at Korea Stock Exchange, is the biggest business conglomerate in South Korea with total sales of US$6 billion, equivalent to Rp51 trillion.
It focuses its business on 3 main sector; construction manufacture, financial and recreation services. For financial business it has some line of business such as insurance, securities firm, asset management and venture capital. Hanwha is the second biggest non bank in South Korea.
Gatot said the cooperation with Hanwha could be creating the financial products by Hanwha to be offered to BNI's customers.
He added BNI might also propose to Hanwha to become strategic partner in BNI's subsidiaries; PT BNI Life Insurance, PT BNI Syariah and PT BNI Multifinance. (hans@theindonesiatoday.com)
