The theme of the Brunei Halal booth this year was on the development in the food and tourism industries, and featured colourful murals depicting Brunei traditions which attracted visitors.
Noel Shield, interim chief executive officer of Ghanim International, said Thaifex 2011 enabled the company to showcase the Brunei Halal brand and its products to international buyers, retailers and distributors.
"The exhibition booth drew many positive comments. However, more importantly the Brunei Halal staff were able to open communication channels with many manufacturers and buyers," he said.
The statement said that the participation of Brunei Halal at the international trade fair symbolises the commitment by Brunei to develop a world-class halal brand across the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry.
The Brunei Halal brand is one of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's initiatives to diversify the economy from the oil and gas industry.
The brand is owned and managed by a government-owned company, Brunei Wafirah Holdings Sdn Bhd, which has appointed Ghanim to manage the brand marketing.
Ghanim is 50 per cent owned by Hong Kong-based logistics company Kerry FSDA and the Brunei Darussalam government. Al-Haadi Abu Bakar
