Menurut Direktur Utama Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Syariah, Ventje Rahardjo, hal ini bisa menjadi salah satu cara mendorong pertumbuhan perbankan syariah ke depan.

“Kita harap dari sisi demand,” katanya pada Republika beberapa waktu lalu. Ia mengatakan misalnya pada produk deposito, ada keringanan pajak pada nasabah di bawah 20 persen. “Selama ini, sama saja dengan konvensional,” jelasnya. Ia mengaku mengharapkan keringanan agar terjadi percepatan pada pertumbuhan aset bank syariah.

Hal senada juga diakui Senior Vice President Head of Syariah Banking, unit usaha syariah (UUS) CIMB Niaga, U Saefudin Noer. Menurutnya terdapat dua isu pajak yang perlu menjadi perhatian dalam pengembangan perbankan syariah Tanah Air insentif pajak dan tax neutrality (penghapusan pajak).

Ia menilai isentif pajak diperlukan untuk mendorong perbankan syariah agar lebih menarik dan pelaku yang memasuki industri ini mendapatkan manfaat lebih. “Dengan basis pembiayaan kepada sektor riil dan underlying asset, perbankan syariah memiliki keunikan dan daya dorong bagi pertumbuhan sektor riil,” jelasnya.

Di sisi lain, penghapusan pajak akan memberi perlakuan yang adil terhadap setiap akad bank syariah sebagai produk perbankan dan menghilangkan pajak yang sebenarnya tak perlu. Bukan hanya penghapusan pajak ganda pada transaksi murabahah, tapi juga ijarah dan pajak lainnya akibat penggunaan hybrid akad.
