REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Perkembangan perbankan syariah Indonesia telah menarik minat investor asing untuk menanamkan modal di tanah air. Dikhawatirkan, investor asing ini akan membuat kompetisi pasar perbankan syariah semakin ketat. Namun, Bank Indonesia (BI) tidak akan membatasi masuknya investor asing.

Menurut Direktur Direktorat Perbankan Syariah BI, Mulya Siregar, kebijakan terkait investor asing di bidang perbankan syariah akan mengacu pada keputusan Gubernur BI, Darmin Nasution. Sebelumnya, Darmin telah mengatakan pihaknya tidak membatasi akuisisi investor asing ke bank lokal.

"Pak Darmin sudah bicara itu (investor asing) secara global. Ya itu, di dalamnya termasuk perbankan syariah," ujar dia, Kamis (17/11).

Sampai November 2011, Mulya mengaku belum ada investor asing yang menyatakan niatnya untuk mengakuisisi bank lokal ataupun mendirikan kantor cabang di Indonesia. Dia juga mengatakan belum ada rencana investor asing untuk menanamkan modal pada 2012.
"Belum ada bank asing masuk," tegas dia. Modal asing dari Timur Tengah diperkirakan terus masuk ke Indonesia.
