PETALING JAYA: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) group chief financial officer Khairussaleh Ramli is tipped to head Maybank's Indonesian operations.
Sources said that Khairussaleh, 43, would assume the position of chief executive officer of PT Bank Internasional Indonesia Tbk (BII), the 97% subsidiary of Maybank, probably as early as next month.
The appointment is subject to the approval of Indonesia's central bank. (source)
Rahardja Alimhamzah is currently BII's acting president director.
It is unclear at this stage what position Rahardja would assume after the appointment of Khairussaleh or who would assume Khairussaleh's current position.
Khairussaleh became group CFO of Maybank in November 2008.
According to information on Maybank's website, prior to joining Maybank, Khairussaleh worked at Telekom Malaysia Bhd for about two years.
His last position there was group chief strategy officer, where he was responsible for the overall group strategy, business development and corporate finance, and the strategic management of a portfolio of subsidiaries.
Khairussaleh has also worked at Bursa Malaysia Bhd with his last position there as CFO and at the Public Bank group in the various segments of corporate banking, stockbroking, research and futures broking.
Maybank bought into BII three years ago for RM8.6bil, or 4.6 times book value, a deal the market deemed expensive at the time.
BII posted a 34% increase in net profit to 555 billion rupiah (RM192.25mil) for te first nine months this year from 415 billion rupiah a year earlier.
