INDONESIA - BANKING - Rapid Growing Islamic Banking Fund

REPULIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN--Dana Pihak Ketiga (DPK) perbankan syariah tahun ini naik signifikan atau sebesar 55 persen dari tahun lalu menyusul semakin tingginya kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap bank itu.
"Meski kontribusinya masih kecil 3,08 persen dari total penerimaan DPK perbankan Sumut hingga September Rp120,61 triliun, tetapi kenaikan DPK syariah menggembirakan," kata Peneliti Ekonomi Madya Senior Bank Indonesia (BI) Medan, Mikael Budisatrio, di Medan, Selasa.
Tahun ini DPK perbankan syariah sudah Rp3,72 triliun dari posisi September 2010 yang masih Rp2,40 triliun Sementara DPK perbankan konvensional tahun ini mencapai Rp116,89 triliun dari Rp100,54 triliun tahun lalu atau bertumbuh 16,26 persen.
"Pertumbuan DPK perbankan syarah yang cukup besar dibandingkan bank konvensional itu menggembirakan," kata Mikael. Menurut dia, meningkatnya kepercayaan masyarakat atas bank syariah itu antara lain dipicu sifat produk syariah yang semakin bervariasi dan sesuai kebutuhan .
"Dengan meningkatnya kepercayaan masyarakat atas bank syariah diharapkan total DPK Sumut terus meningkat lagi," katanya.
Pengamat ekonomi Sumut, Jhon Tafbu Ritonga mengatakan, peran bank syariah masih bisa ditingkatkan lebih besar lagi karena nyatanya kepercayaan masyarakat bukan hanya berasal dari muslim tetapi nonmuslim.
Menurut Jhon yang Dekan Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Sumatera Utara itu, perbankan syariah akan semakin diminati kalau istilah-istilah perbankan syariah itu lebih diperkenalkan dengan bahasa yang lebih umum.
