INDONESIA - BANKING - Alhamdullilah Growth of Islamic Banking in South Sumatra Rapid

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG - Islamic banking in recent years has grown dramatically. In South Sumatra, the growth of Islamic bank assets relatively rapidly during 2011. Growth up to November 2011 recorded a 59.75 per cent compared to the end of 2010.

According to Bank Indonesia (BI), assets of Islamic banks in November 2011 reached Rp 3.45 trillion. This value is an increase over 2010, amounting to Rp 2.16 trillion. Enhancement of these assets contributed from the increased office network of 429 offices of Islamic banks in 2010 to 475 offices in 2011. Islamic banking also plays a role in the intermediation of financing for micro enterprises. Deputy Supervision 2 Bank Indonesia (BI) Dudi Iskandar, said the amount of financing Islamic banks in South Sumatra dominated for working capital, amounting to Rp 800 billion in November 2011 which increased 22.82 percent from the end of 2010 amounted to Rp 651 billion.

According Dudi, the business potential of Islamic banks in South Sumatra is relatively large. The recognition of Islamic banks has been a source of financing for the community as an alternative to conventional banks. REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,PALEMBANG -- Perbankan syariah beberapa tahun terakhir ini tumbuh secara menakjubkan. Di Sumatera Selatan, pertumbuhan aset bank syariah relatif pesat selama 2011. Pertumbuhan hingga November 2011 tercatat mencapai 59,75 persen dibanding akhir 2010.
Menurut catatan Bank Indonesia (BI), aset bank syariah pada November 2011 mencapai Rp 3,45 triliun. Nilai ini naik dibandingkan 2010 yakni sebesar Rp 2,16 triliun. Peningkatan aset ini disumbang dari bertambahnya jaringan kantor bank syariah dari 429 kantor pada 2010 menjadi 475 kantor pada 2011. Jumlah bank syariah yang membuka kantor cabang di Sumsel pun bertambah dari sebelumnya hanya delapan bank menjadi sembilan bank di 2011.
Perbankan syariah juga berperan dalam intermediasi pembiayaan bagi usaha mikro.  Deputi Pengawasan 2 Bank Indonesia (BI) Dudi Iskandar, mengatakan besarnya pembiayaan bank syariah di Sumsel didominasi untuk modal kerja yakni sebesar Rp 800 miliar pada November 2011 yang meningkat 22,82 persen dari akhir 2010 sebesar Rp 651 miliar.
Menurut Dudi, potensi bisnis bank syariah di Sumsel masih relatif besar. Bank syariah diakuinya telah menjadi sumber pembiayaan bagi masyarakat sebagai alternatif dari bank konvensional. “Jadi fenomena baru, sekarang orang cari sumber (pembiayaan) di bank syariah, “ ujarnya.
Besarnya minat masyarakat pada pembiayaan bank syariah membuat izin pendirian bank semakin ramai di Sumsel. Diakui Dudi, pengajuan izin bank baik konvensional maupun syariah melonjak pada 2011. “Aplikasi kantor cabang bank di Palembang awalnya hanya satu sampai dua, sekarang puluhan yang ingin mendirikan, “ ujar dia.
