INDONESIA - BANKING - 2017, Islamic Banking Growing Market Doubles

Bank Indonesia mencatat total aset perbankan syariah rata-rata tumbuh 40,5 persen dalam lima tahun. Halim mengatakan, dibandingkan perbankan konvensional, industri perbankan syariah tumbuh dua kali lipat. Untuk mendorong pencapaian target itu, Halim mengatakan perlunya insentif berupa kelonggaran pajak atau pemberian aturan penetrasi pasar. Namun ia menekankan bahwa industri tak boleh bergantung pada insentif dari pemerintah. "Yang perlu kita siapkan adalah inovasi produk dengan landasan fatwa, fikih, dan muamalah," katanya.

Saat ini banyak produk bank syariah yang potensial, namun tak dijual dengan baik. Halim mencontohkan skema Kredit Pemilikan Rumah bank syariah yang tak disosialisasikan dengan baik. Demi meningkatkan inovasi produk, menurut dia, bank sentral bakal membuat kelompok kerja khusus yang menangani masalah ini.

Ketua Asosiasi Bank Syariah Indonesia (Asbisindo) Riawan Amin mengatakan pihaknya tengah berupaya menyatukan persepsi antarpelaku industri untuk menghadapi tantangan ke depan. Ia pun meminta Bank Indonesia membantu kemajuan bank syariah. "Kami berharap peran keuangan syariah lebih dominan di masa depan," ujarnya.
