INDONESIA - SURVEY - tax deduction of Zakat contributions

Muslim Indonesia. Terima kasih.

  1. Zakah / Zakat is a percentage on wealth. It is money that did not belong to you in the first place that is shared / given back to the needy in the community.

    It is a personal obligation.

If you make it tax deductible - you actually pay less and have the community pay the rest for you.

It simply means you do not fulfill the Zakah obligation. The first Khalif did wage war on Muslim not willing to fulfill this duty.

It is extremely weird that this is even being debated - or is it a copy/paste from secular/Western tax regulations ? Are we 'Westernizing' Shariah obligations ?

    I am perplexed ... really ... comments welcome ...
