Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia still has a minimum number of people in strategic positions in the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) despite the fact that it has the world`s largest Muslim population.
"A minimum number of our people are in strategic positions in the IDB," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Radjasa said at his office here on Monday.
He said Indonesia was far behind Malaysia with regard to the number of people holding strategic positions in the financial institution.
"We only have one at the top level position namely Bambang P Brodjonegoro. No others (except him) are there," he said.
Regarding the appointment of the finance ministry`s inspector general Hekinus Manao as a World Bank executive director, Hatta said it was an honor for Indonesia to have a man in a top decision-making level position.
"Hopefully more people will follow suit including in the IDB," he said.
Herkinus was appointed as a World Bank r executive director during a meeting between the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC.
Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo and Hekinus were in Washington recently to attend the World Bank-IMF meeting.(*)
