The IIUM International Accounting Conference V provides an avenue for the critical and objective examination of the link between Islam, Accounting and Finance in accommodating the demands and opportunities as a result of the changes in economic, political and social climates in which accounting and finance operates. More importantly, the conference’s theme highlights challenges and opportunities due to the recent developments in accounting and finance research. (source)

In light of the development discussed in accounting and finance research and demands for Islamic based accounting and finance, it is therefore imperative to continue in exploring these challenges and opportunities. The importance of Islam in everyday life creates a need for a better understanding of the relationship between Islam, Accounting and Finance in order to enhance accountability, governance and performance. Hence this conference promotes research culture and dissemination of contemporary findings in Islamic Accounting and Finance.

:: The objectives of the conference are to:

-	Provide a forum for academics, professionals, students and others interested in understanding the interaction between Islam, Accounting and Finance in promoting Accountability, Good Governance and Performance.
-	Promote and encourage accounting and finance related research to further enrich the knowledge in these fields, in both private and public enterprises.
-	Offer a platform for discussions on opportunities and challenges, in the arena of accounting and finance, that are faced by Muslim scholars.
-	Cater for the specific educational and professional accounting and finance needs of Muslim countries and Islamic Institutions.
