Jakarta, (27/7). One of the religious duties of a Muslim is to giving out alms/Zakah in order to purify the wealth, by giving some part of our wealth to the welfare of the needy. For that reasons Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Syariah is now preparing to be the channeling agent for raising zakah by collaborating with Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS) / National charity funds organization. “we have ATM, we will have SMS Banking, and we have networking of a hundred of branch offices as our media to raise funds for BAZNAS,” as explained by the Corporate Secretary of BRI Syariah, Lukita Tri Prakasa.
Furthermore Lukita said that the fund rising could come from the customers and employee, it will raise fund from infak, sodaqoh, and penalty funds from default and late payment from its customers.
Moreover Lukita said that up until now the total amount of zakah funds that has been raised is about IDR 1.5 billion, the distribution of the funds will be handled by BAZNAS.
“All zakah funds distributed to BAZNAS is part of our CSR,”said Lukita.
In the meantime BRI syariah is now setting up a database system in which its customer’s zakah funds contribution will be recorded and reported every year that can be used for tax deduction report.
“The report can be used for yearly tax deduction as long as the customers has the no. of identification for zakah distribution,” exclaimed Lukita.[ul]
