INDONESIA - ECONOMY - Encourage Economic Development Wamenag Sharia

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs (Wamenag) Nazaruddin Umar said the government will encourage the development of Islamic financial services through universities throughout Indonesia.

"The government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs encourages all universities in Indonesia to develop Islamic economics majors considering the lack of experts in these fields," Nazaruddin Umar said here on Monday. (source)


He explained that the current number of experts in the field of Islamic banking in Indonesia is very minimal. "Though experts in the field of Islamic economics is needed in this country," he said.

For that he encouraged universities in Indonesia to develop Islamic financial services in their respective campuses. "The Economics of Islamic economics is not exclusive, so do not need to be a threat to non-Islamic groups," he said.

Religious ministry, he added the key stakeholders in the Islamic financial services in addition to other government agencies. "In the future if the various agencies will realize the synergy of Islamic economics the better," he said.

Men who served as caretaker Educational Development Foundation of Indonesia, Jakarta (YPPIJ) it also adds a very important role of universities. (gor / ant)

JAKARTA - Wakil Menteri Agama (Wamenag) Nazaruddin Umar mengatakan, pemerintah akan mendorong perkembangan ekonomi syariah melalui perguruan-perguruan tinggi di seluruh Indonesia.

"Pemerintah melalui Kementerian Agama mendorong seluruh universitas di Indonesia untuk mengembangkan program jurusan ekonomi syariah mengingat minimnya ahli di bidang tersebut," kata Nazaruddin Umar di Jakarta, Senin.

Dia menjelaskan, saat ini jumlah ahli di bidang ekonomi syariah di Indonesia sangat minim. "Padahal ahli-ahli di bidang ekonomi syariah sangat diperlukan di negara ini," katanya.

Untuk itu dia mendorong perguruan tinggi di Indonesia untuk mengembangkan program ekonomi syariah di kampusnya masing-masing. "Ekonomi syariah bukan ekonomi ekslusif sehingga tidak perlu menjadi ancaman bagi kelompok non-syariah," katanya.

Kementerian agama, tambah dia merupakan pemangku kepentingan utama dalam ekonomi syariah disamping instansi pemerintah yang lain. "Di masa mendatang jika berbagai instansi mewujudkan sinergi ekonomi syariah akan semakin bagus," katanya.

Pria yang menjabat sebagai pengurus Yayasan Pengembangan Pendidikan Indonesia Jakarta (YPPIJ) itu juga menambahkan peran perguruan tinggi sangat penting. (gor/ant)
