BANKING - BSM Bank Syariah Mandiri records 400,000 transactions

JAKARTA: The remittance using Indonesian Fund (Dana Untuk Indonesia Tercinta/DUIT) scheme of PT Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) reached 400,000 transactions in 2010.

The subsidiary of PT Bank Mandiri Tbk is eyeing the remittance market by partnering with PT XL Axiata Tbk.(source)

BSM’s President Director Yuslam Fauzi expects DUIT transfer scheme will be able to boost the services to the customers, particularly Indonesian people overseas.

“The DUIT transfer has a fast feature as money can be received on the same day. It’s easy because the money can be withdrawn from more than 30,000 ATMs, safe and inexpensive,” he said in press release, yesterday.

In order to add services, BSM partners with XL Axiata to serve remittance sent by Indonesian Migrant Workers [TKI]. The joint product is called Instant Transfer.

Yuslam hopes the partnership will contribute to Indonesian economy. “We also welcome the strategic synergy and hope people can accept the instant transfer product as well.” (T06/NOM)
