INDONESIA - BANKING - BI requests Islamic banks to be compact

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) has called on Islamic banks to be compact and not fragmented. REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) meminta bank syariah agar kompak dan jangan terpecah-pecah. “Kalau tidak solid, bagaimana harus sampaikan pesan ke masyarakat,” ujar Direktur Direktorat Perbankan Syariah BI, Mulya Siregar, dalam kegiatan halal bi halal Asosiasi Perbankan Syariah Indonesia (Asbisindo).
Mulya menuturkan kekompakan ini juga perlu dalam menghadapi ekonomi dunia yang tidak stabil seperti sekarang ini. Di tengah krisis ekonomi yang menyerang Eropa dan Amerika, ia mengaku ancaman krisis bisa menyebar ke negara mana saja.
“Inilah alasan juga mengapa bank syariah harus kompak,” katanya kembali menegaskan.
Dengan kekompakan, bank syariah bakal semakin mengembangkan diri dan konsisten tumbuh.
