INDONESIA - BANKING - BI prepares cash for Ramadan and Idul Fitri : Rp 61.36 trillion

BI: Kebutuhan Uang Ramadhan dan Lebaran Rp61,36 Triliun

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) memperkirakan kebutuhan uang selama masa puasa Ramadhan dan Lebaran tahun 2011 sebesar Rp61,36 triliun atau meningkat Rp6,57 triliun sekitar 12% dibandingkan realisasi kebutuhan tahun sebelumnya sebesar Rp54,78 triliun.

Deputi Gubernur BI Ardhayadi Mitroatmodjo di Jakarta, Kamis mengatakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan itu , maka BI sudah menyiapkan persediaan uang tunai nasional sampai akhir Juli sebesar Rp123,39 triliun terdiri atas uang pecahan besar Rp106,86 triliun dan uang pecahan kecil Rp16,53 triliun.

"Persediaan uang tersebut sangat mencukupi untuk memenuhi proyeksi kebutuhan uang periode Ramadhan dan Idul Fitri baik dari sisi jumlah total maupun jumlah per pecahan," kata Ardhayadi.

Ditambahkannya, untuk memenuhi kebutuhan uang tunai di daerah-daerah, BI akan meningkatkan frekuensi dan jumlah pengiriman uang melalui transportasi darat, laut dan udara agar tiba tepat waktu.

"Kita juga sudah berkoordinasi dengan perbankan agar mereka menyiapkan uang yang cukup terutama menghadapi libur lebaran yang cukup panjang," katanya.

Selain uang tunai, BI juga telah menyiapkan infrastruktur sistem pembayaran nontunai antara lain dengan melaksanakan Mekanisme Setelmen Periodik pada kliring kredit Sistem Kliring Nasional BI yang dikenal dengan close to real time.

"Dengan kesiapan ini, kami harapkan masyarakat tidak perlu khawatir mengenai persediaan uang tunai dan kelancaran sistem pembayaran non tunai," katanya.

Proyeksi kebutuhan uang kertas selama Ramadhan dan lebaran mencapai Rp61,2 triliun meningkat 12 % dibanding realisasi Ramadhan dan lebaran 2010 sebesar Rp54,68 triliun.

Sementara proyeksi kebutuhan uang logam tahun ini Rp121,2 miliar meningkat 19% dibanding tahun lalu Rp101,9 miliar. (gor/ant)
