INDONESIA - EVENTS - Islamic Banking Log Requested Dare Real Sector

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Head of fiscal policy (BKF) Bambang Soemantri Brodjonegoro Permadi said Islamic banking should dare to go into the real sector so that its presence in Indonesia's economy became apparent.
"We recommend to reorient the goals of Islamic banking, which have dared to go into the real sector. In order for Islamic banking sector is considered important," Bambang said after a keynote speaker at the International Seminar and Conference 2011 on Economics in Building Studies and the Center for Teacher Certification, State University of Jakarta (UNJ), Tuesday (11/10).
According to Bambang, Islamic banking has been more in the consumption sector, not in the real sector. "So not only in the consumption sectors such as home loans, car loans for example, but get into the real sector. And if you have entered the Islamic banking sector I think it's real nice. As long as this already exists, but is limited and not yet a trend," said Bambang.  (source)

EDUCATON - UNJ Receives a Rp 342 Billion Grant from the IDB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Since 2009, the Jakarta State University (UNJ) has been receiving US$ 38 million from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). "The grant has been utilized to build two towers with 12 floors and is expected to be completed by 2013,” said UNJ Rector Assistant, Zainal Rafli, yesterday. (2/9).

Two new buildings to be constructed next to the Rector’s Office will have rooms for practice and lecture classes.

BANKING - In promoting Islamic banking transaction, Bank Muamalat joins force with UNJ

Jakarta, (03/09). In order to improve the competency of shariah human capital for our Islamic banking system, Bank Muamalat Indonesia (BMI) through its subsidiary Muamalat Institute is collaborating with Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) in conducting Islamic banking training Program.

Director of Bank Muamalat, Andi Buchari, during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), last Thursday, said that the synergy between the Islamic financial service and higher learning education is necessary to support the public education and improve the Islamic banking system.

“This is one of the reasons that we have collaborated with some of the universities including UNJ,”said Andi.
