INDONESIA - WAQF - Indonesia Should Be Emulated For Creativity In Developing Endowment Land

www.bernama.com.my - SEPANG, May 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia can emulate Islamic bodies in Indonesia in their creative development of endowment land despite financial constraints.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said they used endowment land for schools, universities and hospitals.

"We agree to study how they are able to develop the economy and Muslims in their spirit of volunteerism despite not being government agencies. (source)

INDONESIA - HALAL - Tatarstan wishes to have closer ties with Indonesia

www.thejakartapost.com - The Republic of Tatarstan aims to improve its relations with Indonesia as President Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his intention to visit Indonesia at the end of September to meet various economic, trade, industry and tourism stakeholders.

The intention was conveyed to Indonesian Ambassador to Russia, Djauhari Oratmangun, during a visit to the Tatarstan capital city of Kazan on Thursday, the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow said in a media statement sent on Saturday.

Minnikhanov emphasized Tatarstan’s intention to increase tourism cooperation with Indonesia.  (source)

INDONESIA - BANKING - Endowments Mandatory Managed Assets Through Islamic Financial Institutions

JAKARTA: Indonesia confirms Bank management and development of cash waqf property can only be done through investments in financial institutions products sharia or Islamic financial instruments.
Mulya E. Siregar, Director Directorate of Bank Indonesia Sharia Banking, explaining the requirement that a decision of the Minister of Religious Endowments Board after consideration of Indonesia and related agencies.
"The management and development of waqf property made money also follow the provisions of Islamic bank deposit guarantee institution according to the legislation," said Mulya E. Siregar in a workshop on Management of Endowments Opportunities for Empowerment of Micro and Small today.  (source)

Since 2005, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has been promoting productive endowments empowerment program of assistance by way of having money to nadzir waqf land in strategic locations and have productive endowments programs. INDONESIA - BANKING - Sharia Bukopin Target Endowments USD 1.1 Billion

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Bank Syariah Bukopin target capable of collecting cash waqf USD 1.1 billion by the end of 2011. According to the Director of Syariah Bukopin, Riyanto, this time his side has been able to collect the cash waqf Rp 900 million.
