INDONESIA - CAPITAL MARKETS - SBI Syariah Limited, BI Push SBSN
EKONOMISYARIAH.ORG - JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) admitted pushing Sharia State Securities (SBSN) in lieu of Certificates of Bank Indonesia Sharia (SBIS). SBIS limitations as a means of liquidity management of Islamic banking because it did not have underlying assets that make these instruments can not be traded in the secondary market.
According to Associate Economic Analyst, Directorate of Monetary Management BI, Erwin Gunawan Hutapea, SBSN use can be more useful to finance the state budget revenues and expenditures (state budget). "Meanwhile, if only in the SBIS, it will just be a floating fund (idle) and not distributed," he said. (source)
