2012, up 146% over the same period of 2011 amounting to Rp3, 16
trillion.
"The growth of these assets PermataBank cements our position as a business unit of Islamic Sharia in the Islamic banking industry of Indonesia during the first semester of 2012," said Chief Syariah PermataBank Achmad Permana K 1433 on the sidelines of the care of orphans and orphans in Jakarta, Wednesday (8/8) .

Tbk booked net loss of Rp11.67 billion in the first half of 2012,
flipped from net profit of Rp10.7 billion in the corresponding period of
2011.
The bank actually posted higher net interest income of Rp87.4 billion, representing an increase of 20% from the first half of 2011. Bank QNB Kesawan, however, suffered from substantially higher personnel and administrative expenses. (source)

INDONESIA - BANKING - Asia Islamic Banking Assets Grow 15 Percent per Year
WWW.REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR - Islamic Banking Assets showed geliatnya Asia last year. Estimated growth of sharia banking assets reached 15 percent per year for the next 10 years.
It is inferred by the global body setting standards, which recorded growth of sharia banking in Asia.
Based on data from the central bank, ownership of assets in Malaysia increased by 27 percent over the past year. Until April 2012 the value of assets in Malaysia reached 344 billions dollars. Official state office in Indonesia's growth in assets reached Rp 144 trillion (15.2 billion dollars), or increased 43 percent.
Secretary General of the Kuala Lumpur-based Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), Jaseem Ahmed, said the growing need for increased consumer as a motor of this asset. (source)

aggressive growth by relying on a high increase in consumer financing.
According to Director of CIMB Niaga Commercial Banking & Sharia Handoyo Soebali, the assets of its sharia business unit (UUS) reached IDR5.7 trillion by the end of first half 2012 or 61% higher from IDR3.5 trillion a year earlier.
“The growth of sharia banking is largely driven by consumer segment which owned 51% portion of the total financing,” he said in Sharia Banking Forum for Multifinance and Consumer Business 2012 Thursday (7/5/2012). (source)

The growth of Islamic banking assets operating in the former District
of Besuki in the second quarter of 2012 slowed down.
As of May 2012 recorded an increase of assets was only 57.1%. While the same period last year growth was 70% compared to the previous year.

www.antaranews.com - Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Some circles believe that Islamic banks Indonesia will continue to grow in line with the growing economy ramahnya Indonesia for investment.
Citing Directorate of Islamic Banking Bank Indonesia, the Islamic banking assets rose 35.55 percent in the fourth quarter of 2011 with a value of Rp135, 9 trillion.

INDONESIA - BANKING - Indonesia Shariah Assets Rise Most Since 2003
www.bisnis.com - JAKARTA: The fastest growth in Indonesia's Shariah-compliant banking assets since 2003 is bolstering speculation that the government will meet its target for the industry next year.
Islamic holdings increased 49 percent to 145.5 trillion rupiah ($16.1 billion) in 2011, compared with an average 38 percent expansion over the previous five years, central bank data released on Feb. 15 showed.
That's less than Malaysia, a global Shariah finance hub, where assets total 389.3 billion ringgit ($129 billion), government data show.
Bank Indonesia has said it wants the industry to account for 5 percent of the country's total banking assets by 2013, from less than 4 percent now, and 10 percent by 2015 to 2020. (source)

INDONESIA - BANKING - BRI Syariah to open 150 new offices to boost credits
JAKARTA: PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Syariah plans to open 150 new offices next year, aiming at reaching 60% growth target in loan disbursement.
The bank will expand its network in small cities of some islands in Indonesia.
Most of those offices will be supporting branch (KCP) since this type of office spends low operating cost, said BRI Syariah President Director Ventje Rahardjo. About 90% operating cost of a supporting branch goes to employee salary. In the meantime, investment to open an office is not more than IDR600 million. (source)

INDONESIA - BANKING - Last year Islamic banking grew 40 %
JAKARTA: Indonesia optimistic about the growth of Bank of the Islamic banking industry in 2012 is still above 40%, although overshadowed by the national economic slowdown caused by the global crisis.
Some factors to driving industry growth is the performance of the newly established Islamic bank in 2010, the birth of new Islamic banks, to the penetration of foreign capital.
