INDONESIA - BANKING - Last year Islamic banking grew 40 %

JAKARTA: Indonesia optimistic about the growth of Bank of the Islamic banking industry in 2012 is still above 40%, although overshadowed by the national economic slowdown caused by the global crisis.
Some factors to driving industry growth is the performance of the newly established Islamic bank in 2010, the birth of new Islamic banks, to the penetration of foreign capital.
Mulya Siregar, Director Islamic Banking Bank Indonesia (BI) is optimistic the industry assets will grow over 40% by looking at the development of a number. Islamic banks which stood since 2010.  (source)

INDONESIA - GENERAL - BCA, Mandiri Add Cash in ATMs for Idul Fitri

JAKARTA (IFT) – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) and PT Bank Mandiri Tbk will increase cash stock in their automatic teller machines (ATM) nearing Idul Fitri to anticipate a rise in cash transactions.(source)

INDONESIA - BANKING - BCA and NU sign cooperation

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) and the Executive Board of the NU (NU), signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in education, health, and cooperatives.
The MOU was signed conducted between President John Setiaatmadja BCA Director and Chairman of the Board NU KH Said Agil Siraj here on Thursday.
John Setiaatmadja said, a memorandum of understanding that exists between the BCA with PNU is expected to provide added value for BCA banking services to customers, partners and society BCA including  members of the NU. (source)

BANKING - CIMB Niaga can become larger than Mandiri by 2016 - BRI might surpass Mandiri this year

JAKARTA (IFT) - According to the IFT Research Department, in the next five years, state-owned banks may face tough competition from private banks, whose majority stakes are controlled by foreign investors.


Assets growth in PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk (BNGA) and PT Bank Pan Indonesia Tbk (PNBN) in 2016 will surpass PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI) and PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA). This is reasonable as CIMB Niaga and Panin Bank recorded the highest average annual asset growth among ten largest banks in Indonesia. (full story - indonesia finance today)
