INDONESIA - BANKING - IDB to postpone selling Muamalat shares

JAKARTA: The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) officially submitted a letter to Bank Indonesia (BI) last week stating that it would postpone selling its shares of PT Bank Muamalat Tbk, a central bank official says.

BI Islamic Banking Directorate director Mulya E. Siregar said Friday that the postponement was due to a disagreement between IDB and potential investors over the stock price. (source)

INDONESIA - BANKING - Chairul Tanjung Withdraws from Betting on Bank Muamalat

INDONESIA - BANKING - 8 investors express interest in Bank Muamalat shares

At least eight investors, including five foreign ones, have expressed their interest in purchasing 50 percent shares of Bank Muamalat, a major sharia bank in Indonesia.

Bank Indonesia deputy director for sharia banking Mulya Siregar said the interested investors included local-based Para Group, which belongs to business tycoon Chairul Tanjung; Saratoga Investama Sedaya, headed by noted businessman Sandiaga Uno; and the country's largest lender by assets, Bank Mandiri. BANKING - CIMB Niaga can become larger than Mandiri by 2016 - BRI might surpass Mandiri this year

JAKARTA (IFT) - According to the IFT Research Department, in the next five years, state-owned banks may face tough competition from private banks, whose majority stakes are controlled by foreign investors.


Assets growth in PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk (BNGA) and PT Bank Pan Indonesia Tbk (PNBN) in 2016 will surpass PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI) and PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA). FINANCE - Intraco gets $38.1m loans to refinance debts (Bank Mandiri Syariah)

JAKARTA: Intraco Penta, a company which trades and leases heavy equipment and related spare parts, secured Tuesday loans from Bank Mandiri and Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) worth US$38.1 million mostly to refinance the company’s debts, an executive says.

Mandiri’s director Sunarso said on Tuesday that Mandiri would disburse $23.4 million and the remaining $14.7 million loans will be provided by BSM.

RATING - Bank Mandiri Tbk.

PEFINDO affirmed the rating of idAAA” to PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, (BMRI or the Bank) and idAA+” to its IDR3.5 trillion subordinated bond.  The outlook for these ratings is “stable.”  The ratings reflect strong support from the Government of Indonesia, the Bank’s superior market position, and improving asset quality performance.  However, the ratings are constrained by BMRI’s Net Interest Margin (NIM) which is slightly below average.
