INDONESIA - CAPITAL MARKETS - Bank Muamalat Readies for Rp 1.5t Islamic Bond Sale

www.thejakartaglobe.com -Bank Muamalat, the country’s top Islamic bank, plans to sell Islamic bonds worth Rp 1.5 trillion ($159 million) over the next two years to boost lending.

The Jakarta-based lender aims to sell Rp 500 billion in July this year, it said in a brief prospectus published in Bisnis Indonesia newspaper on Wednesday.

It will offer the notes to investors on June 25-26, with a planned listing on the Indonesia Stock Exchange on July 2. It will sell the final Rp 1 trillion next year.  (source)

The development of Islamic capital markets in domestic and global markets continued to show positive trends. This is caused by various factors that support these developments. The first factor is the issue of Islamic development which continues to progress very rapidly, so it must be balanced with capital market products in accordance with sharia to respond to market demand. The second factor is the Muslim investors who keep their funds in the stock market, but expect the product must be in accordance with sharia. It becomes something very positive because their awareness of Sharia compliant products require them to invest in shares in accordance with sharia. CAPITAL MARKETS - Islamic securities attract more interests - Islamic stock trading infrastructure needs to develop

JAKARTA: Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) is responding to investors\' huge interests in the Islamic capital market by considering grouping 198 Islamic stocks into one special index group.

Director of Development at BEI Friderica Widyasari Dewi revealed BEI wanted to develop the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) to not only cover 30 blue-chip Islamic stocks.
