INDONESIA - FINANCE - Indonesian market reflects a growing economy
www.emergingmoney.com - With GDP of $1.1 trillion, Indonesia is the 15th-largest economy in the world. This growth is tracked by the Jakarta Composite Index, the benchmark equity index for the Indonesian market.
The Indonesia Stock Exchange was created in 2007, when the Jakarta
Stock Exchange merged with the Surabaya Stock Exchange. The Jakarta
Composite Index tracks all listed companies on the exchange relative to a
base value of 100 that was set on August 10, 1982. In addition to
sector-based indices, the exchange has created the Jakarta Islamic Index of 30 stocks in compliance with Islamic law. (source)

EDUCATION - CAPITAL MARKETS - 100 Participants Were Attending the Shariah Capital Market
Jakarta (20/12) to encourage public awareness for capital market transactions as one of investment instruments. The Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah (MES) has conducted such training for the beginners which participated by 100 individuals.
Capital market is well known as the game for the investors only although not all capital market players is investors. This wrong image is to be changed as explained by Ahmad Iqbal from MES, furthermore Iqbal said that the capital market is belong to all layers in society and it could be beneficial for public at large for business purposes.

CAPITAL MARKETS - Islamic securities attract more interests - Islamic stock trading infrastructure needs to develop
JAKARTA: Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) is responding to investors\' huge interests in the Islamic capital market by considering grouping 198 Islamic stocks into one special index group.
Director of Development at BEI Friderica Widyasari Dewi revealed BEI wanted to develop the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) to not only cover 30 blue-chip Islamic stocks.

CAPITAL MARKETS - Capitalization of sharia shares reach IDR1,368.9 trillion
JAKARTA: PT Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) reported that a capitalization value of sharia-based capital market until October 15, 2010 reached IDR1,368.9 trillion or about 45% of the total market capitalization value at IDR3,042 trillion.

FINANCIAL MARKETS - Sharia mutual fund weakens - Selling agent quality needs improving
JAKARTA: Total of net asset value (NAV) of sharia equity fund fell 8.50% January-September into IDR1.87 trillion as from IDR2.05 trillion last year.
