INDONESIA - FINANCE - Thailand Distributes $ 1 Billion For BMT Indonesia

MICRO FINANCE - Sharia financing firms to aid migrant workers
The Baitul Maal Wat-tamwil Association of sharia-based microfinancing institutions has signed a memorandum to give migrant workers microfinancing assistance.
Association chairman Aries Mufti signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Overseas Workers on Thursday. (full story)

EVENTS - IDX and MES - Seminar “Shariah Based Capital Markets as Alternative Investment”
Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) cooperated with the Society for Islamic Economy (MES) to organize Monthly Seminar of the Society for Islamic Economy entitled “Shariah Based Capital Markets as Alternative Investment”. The event aimed to increase public’s knowledge on shariah capital markets as an alternative for investment.

CAPITAL MARKETS - SUKUK - Absindo will issue its first Sukuk
Jakarta, (16/8). Based on investor demand, (Absindo) will issue its first sukuk. The chairman of Absindo, Aries Mufti confirmed that ABSINDO will issue sukuk with purpose to strengthen the working capital and networking of BMT which has been connected with Absindo.
“We perceived that sukuk is an effective instrument to raise funds in developing BMT: said Aries.
