INDONESIA - OIC TRADE - PTA - Kinnow export to increase with Indonesia

www.brecorder.com - ISLAMABAD: The Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) signed between Pakistan and Indonesia early this month, is expected to be ratified by the end of March, officials said on Tuesday.

The PTA between the two countries will result into export of kinnows with a huge boost.

The agreement has reduced the tariff rate for kinnows from 25 percent to zero tariff. (source)

INDONESIA - EVENTS - Exploring & Developing the potential of Islamic Finance through the D-8 Islamic Microfinance Workshop

The Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Halim Alamsyah, opens the "D-8 Islamic Microfinance Workshop", which is also the 2nd D-8 Working Group on Development of the Islamic Financial Services Industry, on Friday 11th November 2011 in Jakarta. Bank Indonesia (BI) is hosting the workshop in conjunction with Developing Eight (D-8) member countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Islamic banking arm of BRI. The meeting is themed "The Role of Islamic Microfinance in Economic Prosperity and Community Empowerment", which incorporates a number of issues relating to policy, the concept and best practices of Islamic microfinance in Indonesia as well as other Developing Eight member countries, and will be held from 11th – 13th November 2011.(source)

PAKISTAN - ECONOMY - Cabinet to approve PTA with Indonesia

brecorder.com - The Federal Cabinet is all set to approve the 'Preferential Trade Agreement' (PTA) with Indonesia, with the main beneficiary purportedly being edible oil importers.

The meeting will be presided over by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, who is scheduled to leave for Australia on Wednesday to attend the Commonwealth Summit meeting.

Official documents obtained from the Cabinet Division suggest that Pakistan and Indonesia signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in November 2005 on the occasion of the visit of President of Indonesia to Pakistan.  (source)

WORLD - CALL FOR PAPERS - SAICON 2011 (deadline abstracts Aug 20, 2011)

Call for papers : We invite submissions that cover conceptual, theoretical and empirical investigations that adopt diverse methodologies and highlight novel findings in management, business ethics and entrepreneurial activities.

Types of submissions : 1. Full Academic Papers (8000 words or less) / 2. Case Studies (6000 words or less) / 3. Practitioners Contributions / 4. Institutional contributions, (agencies, chambers, government bodies etc.) as 20 minute or less presentations

Submission Details: 1 Abstracts : All submissions require an abstract of 500 words via email to icmbee@ciitlahore.edu.pk by August 20, 2011.  All abstracts will be reviewed by a Reviewing Committee.  2.
