Halomoan Marpaung, BRI Syariah Yogyakarta Branch, said one of his side during the concentration task this year is to reduce the ratio of intermediation (financing to deposit ratio / FDR), which has penetrated 123.3% at the end of July.
He explained the reduction in the FDR will be pursued with increasing third-party funds (DPK), especially on savings and current accounts.

INDONESIA - EVENTS - Forum Riset Perbankan Syariah
Jakarta - Following the successful implementation of the Research Forum of Islamic Banking in Palembang and Yogyakarta in 2010, MES, BI, IAEI and FoSSEI will hold Islamic Banking Research Forum (FRPS) in 2011 twice , with the theme "Enhancing Quality and Competitiveness of the Banking Industry Welcoming the National Sharia Era ASEAN Economic Community (MEA).
This year the host campus is IAIN Sumatera Utara on September 29 to 30 and the Padjadjaran University in December 2011.
Executive Director of the Society for Islamic Ekonomy (MES) Achmad Ikbal stated, "This forum is part of an effort to overcome the problems in the development of sharia banking in Indonesia ".

EVENTS - BI - Annual Seminar - April 20-21, 2011 Yogyakarta
Bank Indonesia Annual Seminar on International Islamic Finance is one of annual seminar series held by Bank Indonesia aiming at promoting Islamic finance industry (especially Islamic banking) to foster economic growth and financial stability.
The seminar will be held in the exotic city – Yogyakarta, Wednesday-Thursday, on April 20th and 21st, 2011 with theme "Can the Indonesian Islamic Finance Sustain the High Growth Regime Up to 2015 Beyond?".
The event will discuss some significant issues in Islamic finance such as: Does Islamic banking promote economic development and financial stability, The role of the government in supporting the Islamic banking development, Filling the gap in the Islamic banking industry, Moving towards the sharia convergence, and Islamic finance product development.
Well experienced international speakers will share their ideas and views on those topics and an estimated audience of over 200 financial practitioners, regulators, academician and Islamic scholars is expected to attend the seminar. There is no tuition fee (free of charge). However, there are only 200 seats available on the first come first serve basis.

ZAKAT - First World Zakat Forum Hosted by Indonesia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - In a meeting of the World Zakat Forum (WZF) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, in 2007, Indonesia was appointed to host the first WZF conference. This was revealed by WZF committee chairman Mohammad Arifin Purwakananta to the meeting with press held by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) in Cikini, Jakarta, on Thursday.
