INDONESIA - CAPITAL MARKETS - STATE BONDS: Government sukuk issuance January 31

www.bisnis.com - JAKARTA: The government will publish a project-based sukuk country on Jan. 31 to meet a target issuance of state bonds for the quarter I/2012 Rp53, 2 trillion.
For the issuance of Islamic bonds in the country this year, the project as well as state assets that could be used as the basic (underlying assets) reached Rp66, 1 trillion. (source)

INDONESIA - CAPITAL MARKETS - Sukuk set to finance development projects

Jakarta: Directorate General of Debt Management, Ministry of Finance plans to add a special state securities instruments to finance development projects included in the budget.
Waluyanto, Director General of Debt Management, MoF said that during this, the government only publishes Islamic government securities as underlying instruments project.
However, next year the government set the issuance of sukuk to fund projects in the State Budget (Budget) or known as sukuk based project financing. (source)

Government officials leave today for a series of meetings with overseas investors to gauge their interest in an offering of Islamic bonds, or sukuk.

“We will start tomorrow [Friday],’’ said Dahlan Siamat, the Ministry of Finance’s director of Islamic finance. He was responding to a question about when the government would begin road shows to drum up interest in the dollar-denominated Islamic notes. (source)

INDONESIA - CAPITAL MARKETS - Indonesia Plans to Issue Maiden Islamic Treasury Bills

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia plans to issue its maiden Islamic treasury bills Aug. 2, a senior official at the finance ministry said Monday, as part of its efforts to diversify its Islamic bond instruments.
Dahlan Siamat, a director in charge of Islamic finance at the finance ministry, said in a seminar that Indonesia would issue six-month bills next month. He didn't say how much the country plans to raise.

Indonesia, which has the biggest Muslim population in the world, has lagged behind neighbors such as Malaysia and Singapore in developing its Islamic finance industry. (source)

INDONESIA - CAPITAL MARKETS - RI govt to issue Islamic bonds to accelerate infrastructure development

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government will issue Islamic bonds (sukuk) worth Rp20.9 trillion to finance infrastructure development.

"The issuance of the project-based treasury bonds is aimed at speeding up infrastructure development to improve public service, empower domestic industries and increasing government investment," shariah financing director of the Directorate General of Debt Management of the ministry of finance, Dahlan Siamat, said here on Friday. CAPITAL MARKETS - Govt issues Sukuk worth rp18 tln since early 2011

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government issued state sharia bonds (sukuk) worth a total of Rp18.84 trillion in the year ended June 20, a Finance Ministry official said.

"The amount came from the issuance of sukuk for Indonesian hajj fund, retail sukuk and Islamic fix rate," the director of sharia financing of the ministry`s directorate general of debt management, Dahlan Siamat said here on Friday. (source)

CAPITAL MARKETS - Sukuk Sales on Hold Until House Gives Approval

Indonesia has postponed Islamic bond sales for the past eight weeks as legislators delay approvals needed for new securities.

The government postponed auctions of rupiah sukuk due in five, 10 and 15 years on May 31 and June 14. Local companies have sold Rp 200 billion ($23 million) of Islamic bonds this year, compared with Rp 700 billion in 2010.  (source)

CAPITAL MARKETS - High-Yield Sukuk Rally on Rupiah’s Seven-Year High, Easing Inflation

Indonesia’s Islamic bonds are rallying, sending yields to a five-month low, as slowing inflation and a strengthening rupiah allow the central bank to refrain from raising borrowing costs.

The rate on the 7.36 percent rupiah note maturing in August 2014 dropped 58 basis points since Jan. 5 to 6.33 percent, near the low of 6.3 percent on June 6. (source)

CAPITAL MARKETS - Indonesia Still Planning Global Sukuk as It Waits for Approval

Indonesia is still planning a sale of dollar-denominated Islamic bonds in the second half even though it has yet to get approval for state-owned land and office buildings to be used to back the debt, the finance ministry said.

The ministry is seeking parliamentary approval to allow Rp 30 trillion ($3.5 billion) of land and buildings to be used for the sukuk offerings, Dahlan Siamat, director of Islamic finance at the ministry, said in an interview today. (source)

CAPITAL MARKETS - PLN Mulls Funding Options for Expansion Plans

As part of its bid to finance its capital expenditure, state utility company Perusahaan Listrik Negara is considering various funding options, such as whether to sell dollar-denominated bonds or seek banking loans worth up to $2 billion, its president director said.

“We’re still studying whether we will issue global bonds, sukuk bonds or seek bank loans from domestic banks to finance our investment plans,” Dahlan Iskan, PLN’s president director, said in Jakarta on Wednesday.  (full story - source)

CAPITAL MARKETS - Government’s First Infrastructure-Backed Sukuk Offer Welcomed

Indonesia’s first sale of local-currency sukuk backed by roads and railways may benefit from the rupiah’s 4.7 percent gain against the US dollar this year and higher sovereign debt yields relative to Malaysia.

“I’d buy the sovereign sukuk as I believe the rupiah has more room to strengthen,” Mohd Noor Hj A Rahman, chief executive at OSK-UOB Islamic Fund Management, said on Thursday. “Yields are more attractive if you compare to what other markets are offering. You can’t get such high yields in Malaysia.”  (full story)

CAPITAL MARKETS - Indonesia to issue first infrastructure-based sukuk

JAKARTA, May 5 (Reuters) - Indonesia's government plans to sell its first project-based sukuk this month to continue providing sharia instruments, as it runs out of assets to guarantee regular sukuk issues and seeks to fund infrastructure. 

The government aims to sell 1 trillion rupiah ($117 million) of sukuk on May 31 backed by 1,066 infrastructure projects such as roads worth 20.9 trillion rupiah, said Dahlan Siamat, sharia director at the finance ministry. (full story)

CAPITAL MARKETS - Indonesia aims to raise 1 trln rph in sukuk auction on May 31


May 4 (Reuters) - Indonesia's finance ministry aims to raise 1 trillion rupiah ($117 million) from a sukuk auction on May 31 using infrastructure projects as underlying assets, sharia director Dahlan Siamat said on Thursday.

CAPITAL MARKETS - Sukuk Spreads Tighten as RI Gears Up for 2011 Bond Issue

Indonesia’s borrowing costs relative to Malaysia’s have narrowed to the lowest level since January ahead of a planned sale of global Islamic bonds in the second half of this year.

The extra yield investors demanded to buy Indonesia’s 8.8 percent dollar sukuk compared with Malaysia’s 3.928 percent note shrank to 21 basis points on Friday from 71 basis points on March 16. (full story)

BANKING - Gulf lenders eye Indonesia acquisitions (ABG - QIB - AFB - StanChart saadiq)

Dubai: Albaraka Banking Group and Qatar Islamic Bank aim to acquire Sharia-compliant lenders in Indonesia as the central bank estimates the nation's Islamic assets will increase by as much as 55 per cent this year.

Albaraka, Bahrain's biggest publicly traded bank, plans to spend $100 million on an acquisition, Chief Executive Officer Adnan Ahmad Yousuf said in a March 28 interview in Istanbul. (full story)

FINANCIAL MARKETS - Indonesia fin ministry to sell 2.25 trln rph sukuk to Haj Fund

Jan 14 (Reuters) - Indonesia's finance ministry plans to sell 2.25 trillion rupiah ($248.62 million) of sukuk in February to the state-managed Islamic Haj Fund via a private placement, sharia debt director Dahlan Siamat said on Friday.

The fund is managed by the religious ministry, and the sukuk is not tradeable on the secondary market. ($1 = 9,050 rupiah) (Reporting by Rieka Rahadiana)
